Quick question since I've heard conflicting things from various schools. My university does not offer separate labs for any bio or phy class rather they are built into the lecture(4 or 5 hour classes). i.e. my transcript shows no separate labs for any of them. One school told me this would be a problem and that I should take labs at a community college which is not an option. Others have told me it's not a problem.

Anyone have a similar experience they can shed some light on?

What school told you it was a problem? I took an integrated Chem 2 course, and I never got any grief for it. I don't even think we got credit for labs in chemistry at my undergrad....

Yeah, I just looked, the labs for first year chemistry and physics don't even show up on my transcript. I guess I can't speak for the school, but I think maybe they were mistaken. You took the labs, and that's all they care about. Call them again, and explain to them that you took the labs. I've heard of people getting into pod school without taking major pre-req classes (or tests...), I find it hard to believe any school is belaboring you over a chem 1 lab...

NY said not having any physics labs was going to be a big deal for me. I tried to explain that the classes were 1 credit hour longer then usually because they had labs built in but so far, no joy.

For classes with labs integrated in (my bio classes did this), wouldn't just putting down "So and so class + Lab" on the application suffice?

All my science courses at community college were like that, and I know on the transcript it's says Bio 1 with lab. And they are 1 credit hour more. For both bio and gen chem it was like that. I have an interview coming up at NYCPM so it wasn't a problem for me.

I think that was the large part of the problem; that my transcripts didn't list a lab being part of any course even though the course descriptions do.

I'm not sure, I'm hoping to work it all out. Thanks everyone.

Yeah, I honestly checked my transcripts earlier and it makes no mention of a lab for any part of chem 1,2 or physics 1,2. You could always have your registrar attach a letter of explanation to your transcripts, but I have a feeling that there might have been some confusion on NYCPM's part.

My Undergrad did not write "with lab" and the laboratory portion of the course was just built in with the lecture component. I did not have this issue raised at all. Ask NYCPM if they would like a letter from your pre health committee or a letter from a similar committee to clarify the issue, and they will have no further issue with it.

Everything was sorted out, thanks. I was surprised they made a bigger deal about my "lack of labs" then my enormous amount of withdrawals. Haha

Well thanks again for the input.
