I'm taking the 2 months built in free time to study for step1/comlex. This free time is supposed to be used in our 4th year for interviews.

I delayed my boards due to health issues. By doing so I can still graduate on time because I have to make it up in 4th year.

But this leaves me with no time off for interviews in 4th year.

Does anyone have advice on how to traverse through 4th year in my situation and still match successfully?

You have to interview in order to be ranked and match. Your best bet is to use any sick days or work out days off with your attendings/rotation sites so that you can get interview days off. Keep in mind that you may have to make up those days on days that you would normally have off, like weekends, nights, etc.

I can do that as long as they give me that option to make it up. I only fear that they will limit the amount of interviews I can attend.

Begging and negotiating how to best make up the time would be my suggestion. Play the health issue. No one will hire you without seeing and talking to you. Good luck and best wishes

Attendings and residents are reasonable people, I doubt they'd care if you miss 3-4 days per rotation for interviews as long as you ask them politely in advance. I was told my upperclassmen took a week off at a time for interviews. Whatever happens between you and the team your school doesn't need to know. After his subIs, a friend of mine showed up 3 times his last rotation and got an A still. You'll be fine.

Be very careful how you proceed. There was a thread in the past about a student who "worked out with their attending" to take some days off to interview. School found out about it, and failed the student for the rotation / professionalism issue. Some schools are very strict about attendance, and you're not allowed to just readjust your schedule. Other schools will not care. You probably know which bin your school fits into.

I think you should take this advice very seriously.

I agree with above to tread lightly. A few days per rotation should be doable, but I would always offer to make up the time. I honestly had numerous attendings that expected me to make up any days I missed for interviews. I also had a few that were more lenient.
