Hey guys,

I've found this to be a controversial subject at different hospitals I've worked at. We know that ASRA recommends stopping apixaban 3 days prior to neuraxial anesthesia (and dabigatran 5 days)...

So if a patient is having a total joint done on the 10th of the month for example...would the last dose of apixaban be on the 6th (so that 3 doses are missed eg. 7th, 8th and 9th) or the 7th (so that there is 72hrs between the last dose of apixaban and the neuraxial procedure)..

Last dose on 7th ... 72 yrs off meds so long as good kidney function.
