I have a number of great offers for hospitalist positions. I am deciding between locums full time and hospitalist/nocturnist perm. If I choose to do nocturnist, I will do locums on the side.
Contract A. Nocturnist in a small rural town
Open ICU, 2 midlevels, average 12 admissions
360k base with NO RVU BONUS
CME 1K, Relocation/sign on 30K
No loan repayment
Contract B Nocturnist in a large city
Closed ICU, 2 midlevels, average 12 admission
340k base with RVU BONUS average 50k
CME 5k, relocation/sign on 40k
Loan repayment 30k
I'm leaning towards Contract B since I heard docs do fairly well with RVUs. What do you think about RVU bonus? What do you think about offers and whether I should commit to solely locums. Will I save more on taxes if I sign 1099 with locums. I have more offers but these two are my top 2.
