Hi,

I did my first semester of post-bacc at CUNY this spring, but I want to move in with my parents in LA to save $$$$$$$. While there were many commuter schools offering non-degree options here in New York, I am having trouble finding such option for schools in LA.

I am pre-dental, and I do plan to apply for a formal post-bacc or a masters program, but would really like to start taking courses this fall. Please help, if anyone has any information on public or private schools good for science courses non-degree.

Thanks much!

UCLA Extension sounds perfect for you. They offer a variety of science / non-science courses, which may be taken individually (as I had done in the past) or as part of a semi-formal certificate/post-bacc program. Classes are ~$500 each and are usually held in the evening or weekends.

Thanks, DancinSarah! It definitely helps, though the courses offered are limited. Please, if anyone else has 2 cents to add...

This might be a little more difficult to do, but you will have more options in terms of classes. CSU's offer classes to students (like ucla ext) through open university and they're the same classes available to undergrad students.

The thing is you enroll in the classes after everyone else has, so if it's a popular class you might not get it and they're more expensive than ucla ext. Try CSULA, CSUN and hmm can't think of any others in LA, but those are the few that come to mind. CSULA also has a postbac program in case you're interested. Hope that helps, good luck!
