Non-Dermatology Research

I am a M2 and have a year of research experience with 2 (hopefully 3) publications. The issue is that the research is not in Dermatology. When applying to residencies will the PD's take into account this research experience or will they question my lack of Dermatology research? Thanks.

Derm research is always preferred but productive research (which it sounds like you have) is never going to reflect poorly on you. If you feel derm is something you are interested in, you can start looking for some derm related projects now or use your prior experience to springboard to a prestigious 1 year (or longer if interested ) derm research position to really fortify your application.
