Hi

I am student from Montreal. graduated from University of Montreal. and I have a problem with my transcripts.

they are in French and my university doesn't translate them internally. and the AMCAS guide doesn't state anything regarding language used for the documents submitted. (in Canada all universities are required to accept them by law, but I guess in the US english written documents are required?)

anyone in the same situation?

cheers
Y

I can confirm, same situation as you, took some classes at U de M and I called and was told to submit them as is. Basically, since they just go line by line to verify the information, it doesn't seem to matter if it's in French.

Hi guys!

thanks to both of you! just another clarification

when filling you course work did you translate yourself the title of the courses like "Microbiologie" to "Microbiology"

it's specially important because some complex like "physiologie Vegetale" => "plant physiology"

or did you write as shown in the transcript?

I am afraid it will put me at a disadvantage since some of my courses names are in french and some people might not want to bother looking up what it means.

also for @fghjlk: how did you get them to send the transcript? I can't get hold of anybody (I tried Emails, Phone, going there myself. it's completely empty)

please let me know!

I wrote everything as is since I've read @gonnif mentioning numerous time to write everything as is on our coursework. Also, I think I've asked when I called and I'm pretty sure they said to write as is as well (though I'm trying to contact them again, if I can reach them I'll ask again) Basically what AMCAS is doing is only verifying that the information matches what's on our transcripts -- they are not processing it for pre reqs requirements etc. so I feel it doesn't matter if they understand your classes or not.

yes yes, ok so, I emailed them here: Demande d'information - Bureau du registraire - Université de Montréal asking them to email a copy of my transcript to AMCAS e-mail, and they answered within a day sending me a form to fill to input the AMCAS e-mail address + any other info necessary and then they e-mailed an official copy to AMCAS. I did that twice, once on may 12th and it got processed/received by AMCAS June 1st, but before that I was told to include the transcript form so I e-mailed it again on May 27 but, they processed the one without the transcript form no problem... (I had included my transcript ID + AMCAS ID though)

tu peux m'écrire directement si t'as d'autres questions -- je garantis pas que je peux répondre à tout mais j'ai fait le processus plus tôt en mai donc si je peux t'aider, ça me fera plaisir!
