Hi guys-- I'm a soon to be 2nd year resident planning to apply to glaucoma. My attending approached me about writing a paper in the subject of neuro-ophthalmology. Do you think this would at all help for a glaucoma fellowship or is this a waste of time?

I would say not a waste of time. One of my favourite mentors did glaucoma research throughout resident but then went into cornea. It didn't negatively impact her. Would you say you have several glaucoma publications? or are you too busy?

Depending on your department and the research interest there are sometimes limited resources or projects in your chosen field... At least this is the case in my home department. So, I try to do anything I find interesting....
