Non major?

Hey I just want to know what you guys think about non majoring and just taking the pre reqs and applying. Are the odds still the same or do they become lowered? I have completed 2 years of college at a university, and just need to take Organic Chem and Physics. Also how do I download an old D school application and begin to fill it out so I can beome familiar with it? Ive been on the AADSAS web site and couldn't find it.

I was under the impression that a bachelor's degree had to be completed prior to matriculation. You can't graduate without having a major. Of course there may be some dschools that may forgo that requirement, but given how competitive dschool admissions are today, it's probably in your best interest to complete a bachelor's.

I know a Bachelor's is recommended but not required for some schools. I just wanted to see if I could apply after 3 years instead of going for 2 more. I was on the path of being a 5th year senior but I want to avoid unnecessary classes. The Dentist I am currently shadowing has encouraged me to apply without a Bachelors as she did.

I know someone who did what you would like to do, he applied with 67 hours of classes. He was accepted his first year applying. He did well on the dat, which I think was around a 22/23. What is the harm of applying earlier than usual if you have the pre-reqs done, this is how the math is done. Accepted to dental school one year earlier = $100,000, I think you should do it, if you don't get in no harm, just apply the next year and keep taking classes toward a major. One will eventually arrive, then you will be with everyone else applying with a degree.

You have a 3.4... there are a few people with a 3.4 + who have a B.A. or B.S. who will not get in this cycle. If you don't have a 3.8 + with a good DAT score you shouldn't even consider this an option. It's very competitive, it used to happen before but it doesn't happen much anymore. A B.A. or B.S is "highly recommended" much like the 3.0 gpa is "highly recommended", you can get in without either but it's not likely...

I say save the money... do it once...

i agree with future dentist. people without a bachelor's rarely get in anymore - even with outstanding grades.

on the flip side too, wouldn't you like to have a bachelor's?? have something to show for the hard work you've done. it most definitely makes you more marketable to have that degree.

i say put in the time, don't waste your money, and just stick out the two years. i know a lot of people in your boat.

It is unlikely that the stats will be significantly different from 2005. Be on the lookout for the new figures.
