Is it possible for someone who is not registered as a med student to take med classes at a med school? I do research at a med school and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to take a class or two?

I took the medical neuroscience class during undergrad... Well actually I took the version that is for neuroscience grad students as well as audiologists etc.

However 2 years ago the class was taught WITH the medical students. But the class became too large so now it is separate with the same faculty, syllabus and tests

It depends on the school. I was told at one school that there was no way I could take any med school classes.. That they made a big effort to keep the students seperate, but at another school masters students could take biochem and anatomy with the med students.

I would imagine that having ugrad students in with the meds would lead to the ugrads trying to gun the med students to bloody hell.

At my school we had other students in our anatomy class...forensic anthropologists. I don't know about the other classes...

When I was working on my PhD, I sat in on a 2-3 week block in the med school. A member of the med faculty was on my thesis committee and recommended it. I didn't get any credit for it, but it was well worth my time anyway.

I work at a med school as a tech, and I can take a class for free as long as my PI feels it directly relates to my work. So I can take Biochem but not something like a law class. I also know that I take a class as long as my being in it doesn't prevent a real student from taking it. I would assume that this varies from institutuion to institution and how supportive your superiors are to letting you work weird hours or miss work.

Hi there,
Some medical school courses are open to graduate or undergraduate students. It depends on the school and what else is offered there.
