Hi,

Are technologies in radiation oncology commonly applied in non-oncology conditions? Someone at my school mentioned using gamma knife to treat trigeminal neuralgia and AVM. Are there other applications or applications currently being studied?

From my very limited exposure to RadOnc I saw the following:

XRT to prevent heterotopic ossification in pelvic fractures

AND

XRT to treat keloids (esp. particularly bad ones)

A German attending here says the did plantar fasciitis and bone spurs all the time...swears by it.
