Hopefully this is a quick question, but google doesn't seem to be giving me an answer.

I am a pediatric EM pharmacist. Many of my critical care colleagues are SCCM members because they allow non-physician members.

Am I correct in thinking that there isn't an EM organization that allows members that are not physicians? The way I read ACEP and AAEM requirements seem to include physicians only.

I would like to be involved outside of my specific profession. Anything I should be looking at?

Thanks for your help.

The Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) has non physician members as long as they are involved in academic emergency medicine (teaching or research).

SAEM Membership

Depending on what you are hoping to get out of joining, you might be a lot more satisfied with SAEM than with the ACEP/AAEM (which are a lot more about advocacy than about academia).

I attend a ACEP pretty regularly as a pharmacist. I’m a member of the usual ACCP/ASHP/SCCM, but haven’t joined any of the EM specific organizations.

I didn’t realize SAEM allows non physician members - I’m going to look into that now!
