Non polar/polar/hydrophobic/hydrophillic AA

Are hydrophillic amino acids always polar?

Are hydrophobic amino acids always non polar?

Why are they categorized separate? When I memorized the amino acids I just grouped them together as I asked, but I am not sure if that is correct. Should I think of them as distinct groups?

You are probably overthinking things. Remember that "like dissolves like" so polar AAs will dissolve in polar water, which by definition makes them hydrophillic.
