Hey Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any programs that are not "prochoice" friendly besides the Jesuit schools. I am sorry if this topic has been posted before, but I could not find any when I searched.

This might be inaccurate, but I'm not applying to UTSW because of a conversation I had with the PD at ACOG this year. He seemed pro-choice friendly but admitted that the institution basically banned any faculty from providing or discussing abortions. There has been a recent resident there who went on to do a Family Planning fellowship, but it seemed like it would be challenging.

Also, there's a fund out of UCSF that provides money to residency programs that are committed to abortion training: the Kenneth J. Ryan fund. They don't list the programs online anywhere, but I know some programs that have the funding. PM me, if you're interested.

Im sorry! I am actually looking for programs that are prochoice. I understand that not all programs have training etc available, but at the very least I would like to be at a place where they would be supportive of those who are interested in different reproductive health options.

My program, Univ. Hospitals of Cleveland, has an opt-out policy on abortion training rather than opt-in.

Washington Hospital Center has a family planning rotation for all second year residents. You can also op-out of the rotation. It is one of the only few limited residency programs founded by Ryan's foundation to train residents to perform terminations and strong focus on family planning education. It is a great rotation and you get to rotate through local Plan Parenthood in D.C. and at Hospital Center. By the time you finish the rotation, you are competent in performing all first trimester elective terminations, TV ultrasounds, and some of us feel competent in performing D&Es.

With the exception of Emory, most of the programs in the southeast are not very "prochoice." Some examples: MUSC, Carolinas Medical Center.

i took a look at your other posts and you only seem to come around to be confrontational. are you serious about the wife staying home to cook, clean, be your slave essentially?

All the programs in Oklahoma should fit your goals because state-employed physicians are not allowed to perform or even counsel on abortion unless the mother's health is threatened. Our state legislature passed this wonderful law a year or two ago. 🙄

The purpose of this thread is not to argue whether abortions are appropriate are inappropriate. There are other places for discussions like that. Please keep political and other unrelated comments out of the thread.
