Non-profit hospitals?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
@drusso

look who is leading the charge. bipartisan effort, but that couldnt be elizabeth warren, could it? and non other than your own ron wyden has been very vocal on this topic. i guess we know where your vote is going in 2024....

It is a bipartisan issue, and I'm happy to see Senators Warren, Grassley, and Cassidy step up. This is also on Wyden's radar. This should be right up Grassley's alley, but he's also had a hand in creating this mess in some ways with his early work on overly restrictive Stark and self-referral.

I've spent countless hours in meetings with elected representatives on both sides of the aisle over the years, and they do "get it." Still, when the nominally non-profit hospital industry collides with "health care reform" and starts greasing palms, it becomes socialized medicine Bukake'.

Of course, it's not lost on me, that I pointed out SOS shenanigans, the abuse of nominally non-profit hospital tax-exempt status, the draining of local tax bases, and the dangers of doctors "working for the man" more than a decade ago and took all kinds of heat publicly and privately for being "greedy," "self-centered," "cruel," and "not a team player." That's what you get when you stand up for your beliefs.

The best thing doctors can do is vote with their feet. Quit working for these fraudsters and open your own business like our grandparents did. You'll be successful beyond your wildest dreams.
