Does anybody know how the non-rolling admissions process works?

I wanted to send an update letter to the non-rolling places where I have already interviewed but when I called one of the admissions offices they said that I could send it in. The lady also happened to mention my application could have already been reviewed since i interviewed in late October.

Is there any point to send an update letter if the decision has already been made?

I think you should send it if it's good... if they didn't outright mention that you should send it, then don't if its not helpful, but do if it's good. Thats my plan, anyway.

I'm sending update letters to the schools I'm very interested in, this includes 4 non-rolling schools.

I had a good semester, but also a lot happened between when I interviewed and now that they might want to know about. If fact I just spent the day writing them...
