hi all,

so i have a non "science" B.S. with a 3.5 GPA. i plan on taking pre-reqs starting this fall (basically all the science classes) and expect of myself straight A's. and its been a few years since undergrad, less than 5.

I do not have any medical experience at all, and I know I need to remedy this. so im just wondering about the best route to take to get the experience i need to look credible to med schools?

- go shadow
- volunteer at some kind of medical place
- volunteer at a non medical place
- ?research

Agreed, research probably isn't available to you as a post-grad depending on your school. Focus on getting exposure to the medical field, so that you know this is what you want to do.

I got hooked up with some medical research through post-bac instructors. Earning all As is tough but doable..it will likely take a great deal of time and going fairly slow through the post-bac process. Note that, at least for me, 15+/- hrs seems light but if those hours consist of multiple labs and solely science classes, it won't be as light as you may recall from undergrad days. I was told that pretty much straight As are expected (which is a downer after working that hard to be in the upper 10-20% of all those classes).

correction/clarification - I majored in areas nowhere near related to science and also had to start from square 1; approximate timeframe was 1 1/2 yrs prior to applying in order to gain enough classes + ECs + LORs + decent MCAT score, FYI
