Little bit about myself I graduated with a degree in English and one in Economics. Now I'm strongly considering a career in dentistry.

My question is are there any postbac programs dedicated for dental schools like their are for non-science majors applying to medical school. My brother among others I know have done the postbac route for med school and were very pleased with the experience.

I was wondering if anyone has gone the route from non-science major in undergrad to dental school and what bridge per se did you use to get to dental school. I've noticed that most dental schools have the same admission requirements such as 8 semester hours of bio, chem, o-chem, and physics. Would the best approach be go back to undergrad to meet these requirements? Or is there any programs dedicated to this? Or should I consider a regular postbac program for med school?

Thanks in advance for your feedback

I think that you could go back to your undergrad or community college to finish all requirements. Good luck!

I'm sorry, I just have to comment on the irony of an English major misspelling dentistry in the thread title, and using 'their' instead of 'there', lol.

But to answer your question, you can definitely still get to dental school. I think all the students in my class with non-science majors fulfilled the science requirements either during undergrad or at an undergrad institution. I don't know of any postbac program specifically for those pre-reqs, though I could be wrong as I don't have direct experience with this. Good luck!

Some dental schools will not accept core prereqs (Bio, Chem, OChem) completed at community colleges, so make sure you check with the dental school before going this route.

One of my friends graduated a few years ago with a business degree, changed her mind and wanted to do dent, and she's currently doing a post-bac taking just the basic science requirements (and maybe a couple upper levels like cell bio and biochem). There are many programs like this.

This link might help: http://services.aamc.org/postbac/
I know it says med, but pre-med and pre-dental requirements are nearly identical. I used that site to look up my school, and I found the program my friend was doing as a pre-dental student here, so this list might help get you started. And she just transferred to Harvard, and I found the program she's doing there also.
