Anyone here do non-science (i.e. non-BCPM) research? How much value (if any? maybe negative?) does this research add to a medical school application? I ask because I have 3 semesters of finance research and am considering whether or not to include it in my application (no pubs, only an acknowledgment and a poster presentation).

I haven't done non-science research, but I would definitely include it in your app. I think it would be a nice addition, esp since it's different from what most people do and could have the potential to make you stand out.

I'm not doing long term research, but I am presenting a poster on New Mexico and Arizona irrigation and agriculture at my schools next Research Day. I got a scholarship thing for a service trip there this week. It's in anthropology, a nice change from the virology stuff I'm doing.

Any demonstration of intellectual curiosity is a good thing. For example, I believe Duke highly prefers all applicants to demonstrate research in some type of field, not necessarily in science-related fields.
