Hello everyone

I was wondering if I could get some advice and maybe chance guesses?

I ended up partying way too much in undergrad and ended up with a 3.3, non science major.

Then decided to go do post-bac and took all the science pre-req courses, got a 3.9.
MCAT score wasn't what I hoped for, and got a 26.

Lots of ECs, shadowed doc for 3 years, volunteered in hospital for 3 years, President at multiple clubs in undergrad, other leadership roles, etc...

Anyways, was wondering if there were any MD schools I could have a shot at? I'm on the west coast, so probably going to be oos at all of the schools.

I'm also applying to DO at: DMU, Western, AZCOM, KCUM, PCOM
(Any others that you guys would suggest?)

Thanks in advance

Low UG gpa and MCAT are going to really kill you in terms of MD applications. I would focus on DO if I were you, your reinvention and strong clinical EC's make you a much better candidate for DO programs imo.

AMCAS is
Cumm UG: BCPM 3.71, AOGPA 3.31
Postbacc BCPM 3.91, AOGPA 4.0

As for AACOMAS, I'm not sure. After I submitted it, the calculated averages went away... But something along the lines of whats shown above I assume

And I realize the 26 is quite low =(, but are there any schools that might be OOS friendly and more understanding of a low MCAT?

Also, do I have a decent shot at the DO schools I listed above?

Thank you for your time and help

Check the MSAR for schools where your MCAT isn't below the bottom 10%, also be sure to avoid schools that aren't friendly to OOS or ones that have strong missions (HBC's for example)..

Your chances at DO are pretty good. Less so for MD, but you have a shot. Apply broadly at the lower-tier MD schools, maybe 10 schools, then another 10 DO schools.

I believe you should have a good shot at DO's. Just make sure to have your school list checked over by some of our helpful members that are experts or very knowledgeable about the DO programs.
