Hi, I recently got back my MCAT score and not sure where to start with my school list. I somehow scored 7 points higher than my highest practice exam.
  • cGPA: 3.86
  • MCAT: 521 (130/128/132/131)

  • State of residence or country of citizenship: CT, but grew up in FL
  • Ethnicity and/or race: Asian
  • Undergraduate institution or category: HYPSM

  • Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer): 260hrs at a Free Clinic, 65hrs in the ER department
  • Research experience and productivity: 6200hrs in Cell Biology (worked full-time for 3 years)
  • Shadowing experience: 20hrs in family medicine
  • Non-clinical volunteering:
    1. Soup kitchen/food pantry: 150hrs
    2. Leader of a student non-profit organization that raised over $20,000 to help the local HIV/AIDS community: 150 hrs

  • Anything else not listed you think might be important
    1. Part-time editorial illustrator for an online magazine with over 500,000 subscribers
    2. Grew up working at my family's restaurant and took a gap-year after junior year of college to help out the family as a restaurant manager
    3. FGLI and LGBTQ+

I suggest these schools with your stats:
UConn
Quinnipiac
Vermont
Tufts
Boston University
Yale
Harvard
Dartmouth
Brown
Hofstra
Einstein (free tuition)
Mount Sinai
NYU (free tuition)
Columbia
Cornell
Jefferson
Pittsburgh
Johns Hopkins (free tuition)
U Virginia
Duke
USF Morsani
Miami
Emory
Vanderbilt
Washington University (in St. Louis-almost a guaranteed interview with your stats)
Northwestern
U Michigan
Case Western
UCSF
Mayo

You describe fewer than 500 clinical hours, and your non-clinical service at your food bank is 150 hours (though I can credit your family restaurant work). I need to comment that your clinical and non-clinical hours seem lower than applicants you would be competing against (in high-metrics pools).

When you say you "grew up in Florida," how many years? Did you graduate from a high school in Florida? How do you claim Connecticut residency? Have you connected with MSPA chapters at the schools on your list?
