Do we have anything like this specifically for non-trads? I PM'd a number of people in the allopathic PS read list but I haven't gotten replies. Perhaps they are super busy, but I'd really like to have my PS looked at in case I need to re-write it in a more traditional format.

Would we have anyone willing to read non-trad PS's specifically?

I can look it over. In your message please indicate what type of input you are looking for: grammar, stylistic elements, content, structure, etc. I probably looked over 15 or so last cycle and generally can get back to you within a few days.

I was about to make the same post. I just completed a draft of my personal statement.

Also - I'm about to read the guidelines for DO apps, but I'm wondering if people write separate personal statements for MD vs DO. I really just want to be a doctor and my motivations to going to either school are similar (a chance to learn medicine).

Hey guys,

This is a good idea. I'd be happy to read yours, and I'll be finishing up my own draft in the next few days. I'll definitely need some input.

My name is on the allopathic reader list. I have a bit of a slow turnaround time but would be happy to read non-trad PS.

This is a great idea for a thread! Kudos for starting it.

I am a writer and I go to great pains, when the audience warrants it, to write well. My MD School Personal Statement went through 8 revisions! A very dear friend, an attorney and now a Judge, helped me with my personal statement. I made sure to share it only with him b/c he knows how to write well, he celebrates my writing and knows me well, and he knew what I was attempting. If I had enjoined more than 1 person, that would have complicated matters immensely. So, keep your evaluators to a minimum.

I got accepted to more than 1 MD school, but I can't say it was because of my personal statement. But it obviously did not hurt. So write one not with the focus that it will be the silver bullet or your ticket into MD or DO school. Rather, keep your sites on a PS that won't sink your application. Let is buttress your overall application so that the Medical School Admissions Committee can sit back and be wowwed by the total package.

As a non-traditional student, you have ALOT you can write/share in your statement. Pick a very close friend whom you admire/respect, who is also a writer, and is willing to partner with you to compose your PS. If no one like that exists, use us.

Post your statement on the thread here (take out the pertinent personal stuff) and let us give you some input. I don't have the time to take submissions via email and correct, so I apologize for not offering that to you. But it seems like there a few writers on this thread who have already posted, so you might give it a shot.

This is a really great idea!

This is great to hear. I've been panicking about my PS a little bit too much!

I need some PS readers and am willing to do so in return, bumping.

I can take a look at it and give general feedback if you'd like.

OP, the link to your PS didn't work for me.

I am a non-trad (mom of three little ones) and was accepted last cycle. I would be happy to read/edit ps for the next week..(.I start school on the 17th) pm me if you need editing 🙂

EDIT sorry, I can't take anymore PS's. Good Luck this cycle!! 🙂

I enjoy giving general feedback on personal statements. Anyone looking for feedback can pm me.

Hey guys!

I took a long break from this forum to get all my stuff ready to apply this circle. Now I have my preliminary PS ready and would like some feedback. Is anybody still willing a to help out a non-traditional student? I haven't gotten any feedback from general reviewers.
