I'm in a unique situation - I'm currently in dental school and I would like to apply to medical school. I'm registered to take the Aug MCAT. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to approach my applications, and also what do you do about a committee letter if it's been a few years since college.

Thanks a lot!

Don't worry one bit. I suspect that (1) you'll find your situation is not so unique, and (2) the fact that it separates you from 85% of the other applicants may help you to be noticed a little more during the selection process.

just to appease my curiosity, if you dont mind, can I ask why you want to leave the dental field for medicine?

I am not sure how many exist, but there are some programs which allow you to do 2 yrs of med school after you have received your dds in order to receive you md degree.

I have a friend at Penn med who has his DDS and is doing that program. He did not have to take the MCAT...

that is interesting - not a part of an oral surgery program? I'll definitely look into that. thanks!
