Is it possible for nontrads who went for a post bacc to still get admitted despite not having a 4.0 on the post bacc? Got another set of Bs, bringing my post bacc gpa to 3.71. I guess my main concern is that adcoms might see that I’m not matured in the sense of studying or my study habits aren’t that good vs others (spoiler, my study habits suck). What do you guys think?

A 3.71 is an OK showing in a postbac; not stellar but not necessarily a dealbreaker depending on your uGPA/sGPA/cGPA.

Were you taking the postbac because you’re a career changer and needed all the prerequisites, or were you doing a postbac for grade repair purposes?

Yes, absolutely. I normally advise to shoot for 3.7+ for MD, 3.5+ for DO.
Your MCAT will make or break you now.

Thanks for the reply. I have a foreign BS and a US masters so it’s primarily tor prereqs.

What are you doing to address this?
Well, I’m about to figure out what changes needs to ne made. I believe it comes down to awful time management on my part. I’m amazed how people can work FT and get As on post baccs. I tend to do things last minute and this is something I need to stop.
Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the reply. So I basically “need” to get all As here forward so I can apply to MD schools. I’m worrier about the MCAT too.. but that’s a battle for later (I think)

What was your uGPA?

What prerequisites and postbac classes have you taken in the US, and what grades did you get in them?

I havent converted my prereq gpa but I can tell you it was not that good. I’ve taken gen chem and gen bio (A), stat (A), math/trigonometric functions (B), and physics and ochem (B). I have two more terms for physics and ochem, and biochem is next after.

If your postbac grades are an upward trend from your UG years, then that will reflect positively on you. Address deficiencies in your study habits and try to earn all As from here on out.

You should convert your uGPA as soon as possible so you actually know where you stand. If your converted uGPA is very poor, you may need to take further steps to reinvent yourself.

I honestly believe my uGPA is < 3.00 and even maybe < 2.50. Would schools take foreign GPA’s into computation? I was informed to only worry about the subjects I take here in the US vs my foreign country. Nonetheless, there’s a lot of self-reflecting and hard work to be done moving forward.
I really appreciate your time in replying to my responses!

If what you’re saying is that you weren’t awarded credit by US or Canadian institutions for any of your foreign coursework, then it won’t matter. You will need to report your US graduate grades on your AMCAS application as well as your postbac work, so hopefully you have a good graduate GPA (although this is less important/impactful for medical school admissions than UG work). Good luck.

Yeah it was not a US/canadian institute. My US gGpa is 3.8-3.9 I think, with this post bacc being 3.71 for now. Hopefully everything works out. Thank you so much! Now to figure out how to study properly while working a full time job and balancing everything else.
