So this is my first time posting and have no idea where to start with my med school path. I am an undergrad junior at UofL and recently decided to take the pre-med route (ive taken bio's and lab's with a's and b's, taking chem this summer and already taken physics). I have no research experience. I was looking at UCSD's surf program and how past participants have 'projects' and ideas already of what to research.

So my question is do I need to get involved with a research project here before I go looking for a program? When should I apply?

I don't know what the eff I need to do to make myself stand out 😕

There is another thread on this. That being said, a rough idea of the pre-med checklist. Others can feel free to add anything I forget cause I'm tired lol

GPA preferably 3.6+
MCAT preferably 30+
Shadow a MD (or DO/both)
Get clinical experience (volunteer for a hospital, become an EMT CNA ER tech or the like, volunteer for a free clinic, etc)
Non-clinical volunteering (food banks, soup kitchens, etc)
Leadership experence(become a club officer, join the military, etc)
Research (many say 1 or 2 years+ if applying to a research oriented school)
Hobbies (things you enjoy that make you interesting)
Get to know Profs. for great LORs
Write an amazing Personal Statement
Paid work (if you chose, bonus if it is clinical such as EMT)

Lol sorry if i missed the thread, thanks for the replies though!
