Hi everyone! I recently was accepted to Noorda and I am in the highest-tier waitlist for ICOM. Which school would you recommend attending? I am having trouble deciding between the two

do Noorda students get to rotate to U of Utah Health?

Why do you keep asking questions like this? I think you are doing it rhetorically. State university hospitals are for their own students affiliated with their university, not all the med students in the state.

Exactly.

I don't think any DO schools rotates at their flagship state university hospital. I just don't understand the point you are making. I think its well known most DO rotations are not at academic hospitals. Its one of the main reasons DO schools are less competitive. Im sure if OP could get into U of U they would go there, but they're asking about these 2 schools.

The University of Utah has access to all the best clinical sites in Utah while Rocky Vista and Noorda are competing for what's leftover. It's a factor worth considering here.

I would say ICOM if possible. Both are new-ish and for-profit, but ICOM has been around longer than Noorda, which means that they have had more time to develop their methods and have matched a couple classes. I've also seen a lot on here about how Noorda's education model being a little risky.

Right but state school having first dibs in the region is virtually the same with all DO schools. I just don't understand the point you are making when trying to pick between DO schools. Noorda may not have first choice in hospitals but im pretty sure all the sites are in Utah, so its not like they can't find a place to rotate. ICOM is sending students all over the region.

That being said, id probably vote ICOM because its more established, safer choice. But only by 3 years and I think I would prefer to live in Utah, and they seem to have less rural rotations sites. I think it depends on what OP values more.

ICOM has already proven itself, Noorda hasn’t until they do, you ought to go to the more established school if possible.
