So in UWorld question no. 4237, it lists a PCWP of 6 mmHg in the scenario and describes that as being decreased.

Furthermore, in the definition of ARDS in SUTS2 and others it requires a normal PCWP or less than 18mmHg.

Now the normal values I've seen for PCWP are 4-12mmHg, and that would mean the UWorld question has a normal PCWP and ARDS can be elevated.

There does seem to be an overlap but the key is knowing that in ARDS the PCWP is never elevated and could be low or normal and the reasoning is that the capillaries in the lungs are leaky and the resistance is low. This is in contrast to a PE or pulmonary edema in which the resistance is high and you get an elevated PCWP.
