i have been studying for RC since yesterday

well, not really studying i just found strategy from the forum
search and destroy and have been using that since

since i am very slow reader and cant really concentrate well

search and destroy works very well but
inference or tone questions seem to be little difficult

datqvault or topscore RC
i just skip tones or inference questions and come back later at the end
if i get it, thats good, but if i dont have any idea i just guess whatever sounds legitimate

how many inference questions are normally in RC?

also my dat is in a week
ive been getting 16-17 for RC, but after using search destroy
my RC score has been 20, 21, 21 for topscore and qvault 1,2
so i do not have to invest anymore time on this section right?

hey i am struggling with my RC. Could you please explain me this search and destroy method? I'm took two practice exams on crack dat reading and scored 15. i am slow reader as well and english is not my first language.

im just gona tell you what i did.
before i start reading the passage, i just look at question number 1
and then i start reading, but instead of reading really carefully
i just quickly kinda 'scan" to write key words.
if there are lists or name of someone, or some key terms, i just write down everything
so, for my notes i should have
1(paragraph 1) John Locke, George Bush, carb, protein, fat blahblah
2 ribosome, osmosis, facilitate diffusion

something like that
when you see list of things, or what you think it will be asked, just write down next to numbers
and as you are reading the passage, if you see question number 1, you just answer and move on

from question 2, just look at your notes for what they are asking and just go to that paragraph and start answering them.
if you cant find, just scan the entire passage again to find the key word

i dont actually "read".. i just scan
sometimes i dont know what the hell the passage is about, but still pull 20+!

hope this helps

I did qvault and found it a lot easier to s and d. Have you tried CDR? is much harder than Qvault imo. I scored 22 on my first qvault test, and cant score more than 18 on CDR. In other words try CDR too, dont just go by qvault. Good luck!

I think I scored 20 on topscore and on CDR...
The first test I got 14 🙁 and then I started to improve. By the 9th I got 20 on CDR.
CDR has lot of tone and inference questions, which can't be answered just simply by SD.

I found topscore is much easier to do SD. I will be taking reading section on Qvault maybe tonight.

So you think i can improve the CDR score if i still have 7 more to do? i have gotten an ave of 18 in the three that i have done so far. I hope am a little worried, i hate it! lol

I tried 3 qvault (1,2,6) and got average of 20~21. My test is in two days (fml) and I was just hoping for a 18+ so I didn't study separately. I heard from my friend that there were 3~4 tone questions in each passage, and if you miss them all and get the rest right you should be able to get 19-20 I think.

If you averaged 18 on first three CDR tests. You can definitely improve by doing rest of 7 tests.
I improved from 14 to 20 🙂

On my DAT, I think I got 4-5 tone questions. I thought they were easy though. Some of the provided choices were really out of scope.
