The admissions guy said that nonresident decision letters will be mailed no later than January 31. Apparently, NC State had the highest increase in applications this year of all the vet schools (33% overall and 56% OOS). They reviewed 523 OOS applications for 18 slots.

The increase may be attributed to the new VTH which will open in January 2011. There's also rumors that their USN&WR ranking may go from #5 to #1 or #2.

I don't think most people on here give too much weight to the ranking system. Good luck on your application though. should be hearing soonish.

Considering Flying Eagle posted something very similar last year, I wonder if he/she is the "admissions guy"? 😉

I'd be willing to bet that the increase is largely due to getting rid of the business requirement...but I know the new small animal hospital is going to be great as well! I always liked the business requirement, but if it means more competitive out of state folks coming to NC, I'm all for it.

I can only speak for myself, but I seriously considered applying to NCSU this year because they had dropped that requirement - until I realized how few OOS students they accept, then I decided to save money and apply elsewhere where I felt my chances of being accepted were better.

(Says the girl who applied to CSU... Just couldn't help myself with that one!)
