Recently got invited for an interview. Anyone else? Figured I’d start a new board for Class of 2023! Anyone know what to expect?

Hello there! I received my interview invite on 10/18. Are you currently an NIU student?

Yes! I have an interview scheduled for 11/9. Has anyone heard how there's goes? One on one or group?

I have been looking everywhere for information on NIU's interview process and cannot find anything!

I haven't heard anything yet! Based on the thread last year, I'm anticipating we will find out hopefully the week before Christmas.

I received an email this morning regarding outstanding courses. It said

We will be sending out decision letters within the next few weeks.

That's good to know they sent out an update, since I remember them saying that. I haven't personally got that email yet but probably will soon. Wish we all could find out already because the waiting is nerve-wrecking.

Definitely nice to hear that they are sending that email out. I haven’t personally got an email either yet, but I’m sure it will be coming. It’s exciting to know that decisions will be coming in a few weeks!

I called and the desk staff told me Jan 16th :annoyed:

Good to know! Did they mention this date as being the official day when all students who interviewed will know about admission decisions or more as the school's deadline for the latest we would find out? I'm hoping that acceptances will be sent out earlier than that!

I was told it was the date decisions will be sent out. I only talked to a student desk worker, so she might be wrong. If someone else want to call and find oiut that would be great too

CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance. Are you going to accept ? And do you know if anyone else was accepted?
I’m not sure yet if I will be accepting! Still have to decide through my options. I also have not heard from anyone yet if they were accepted or not!

Congrats on the acceptance! I wonder if NIU has sent out all acceptances already or if they're slowly going through each applicant who interviewed. Hopefully some more of us hear back soon!

I received my acceptance the first week of December. They gave me until Dec. 23rd to accept or deny. It sounds like they will be sending out more acceptances soon since the first period to accept or deny has passed? Hope this helps! Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations!!!! I wonder what their method is . I received an email from Dr. Blaschak on Dec 4th stating decisions would be sent out in the next few weeks . But I guess they sent them out before then. Did you receive an email like that prior to your acceptance? I wonder if they are doing it in groupss

CONGRATS EVERYONE ACCEPTED! 🙂 I hope I hear back from them soon. I got accepted to 2 other schools that’s have down payments due on Jan 16 and Jan 17.

Thank you!! I did get that email and then Dr. Blaschak sent me my acceptance on the 7th. I know school doesn’t start back up for them until Jan. 13. I hope you hear back soon!!

Just got an update regarding admissions, and I have been waitlisted! Spots on the waitlist will be determined after January 24th from the email. While I did not get accepted, I think we all have a fairly good chance of getting in still depending on how full the class is and our spot. Good luck to the rest of you!

Same fingers crossed

Sure, I'd be happy to share!

University: Northern Illinois University
Major: Biological Sciences
Overall GPA: 3.68 from PTCAS (Since NIU uses the last 60 credit hours, it is a 3.75 if calculated correctly.)
Pre-Req GPA: 3.76 with NIU (I have one more pre-req left to take. If I attain the grade I want, it will be a 3.77.)
GRE: V-149 / Q-146 / AW - 4.5
Extra-Curric: Employment with Kohl's (2,200+ hours), BLS Provider Certification, Adult and Pediatric First Aid / CPR / AED Certification. I also have 400-500+ hours working as a rehabilitation aide, but it wanted me to include experiences non-pt related here.
Volunteer: N/A
Hours: 600+ hours from both shadowing and working at an outpatient orthopedic setting (400-500+ are from working, 170 are from shadowing), 17 hours at a pediatric setting, 25 hours at an aquatic therapy setting, 17 hours at a private outpatient orthopedic setting, and 18 hours at a skilled nursing facility.
LORs: 1 from a PT who I've shadowed and currently work with, 1 from a PT who is also the assistant facility manager where I work, and 1 from a professor at NIU who is the anatomy lab director.
Acceptances: N/A
Applied: NIU, Midwestern-Downers Grove, Rosalind Franklin, UIC, and Caroll University (applying here later this week).
Waitlist: NIU
Rejections: UIC and Midwestern-Downers Grove
Interviews: Midwestern-Downers Grove, NIU, and Rosalind Franklin (in February)

I feel like I'm well rounded as an applicant, but my biggest flaw is my GRE score and my lack of volunteering and extracurricular activities apart from employment. I think these are the main reasons for rejections or any other decisions made by schools. I do know that NIU gives additional consideration to students who have attended their school for their undergraduate years, so I hope that at least helps me in some way. I really hope I can get off of the waitlist with NIU since it is my top choice!

I received an email in the beginning of the week stating that I was waitlisted and then another email today stating I got my acceptance to the program.
Congrats! It looks like you may have been #1 on the waitlist likely. Will you be accepting?

Ah okay, that's nice to have another offer as well! I hope you make the choice that will be best for your future education. How long is NIU giving you to make a decision?

Thank you! I’m really taking both into consideration!! I have until the 24th to make my decision!
