Okay, I almost finished my secondary yesterday - but it just didn't happen. Today I got this email from Northwestern. Did anyone else receive this email, or am I the only lame one who's still behind in the application process?
"By now you should have received a letter from us inviting you to complete a
formal application to the Northwestern University MSTP. The MSTP
Admissions Committee is very impressed by your academic accomplishment and
promise and looks forward to receiving your secondary application and
letters of recommendation as soon as possible.
I want to emphasize the importance of completing your application as soon
as possible, since a large number of individuals will be applying for one
of our 15 positions in the 2008 entering class. The first of our three-day
interviews will be held on October 17-19, 2007.
The Northwestern University MSTP offers the very best clinical and research
training in the setting of one of the greatest metropolitan the world. MSTP
students benefit from our intensive advising program throughout the entire
course of training, involving numerous M.D.-Ph.D. faculty who serve as
advisors and role models. In addition, we have courses (MSTP Research
Seminar/Journal Club, MSTP Grand Rounds), an annual student-faculty retreat
at a lakeside resort, and other meetings and outings (Roundtable
Discussion, Women's Forum, Visiting Scholar Series, National M.D.-PhD
Student Conference, etc.) that bring all the students together on a regular
basis. Indeed, the camaraderie of our 81 students and the fact that they
know each other well are some of the greatest strengths of our program.
Finally, and most important, our students graduate with strong publication
records and continue their training in the very best residencies in the
country. I have attached a document that describes our program in detail
(MSTP Program Overview 2007).
I hope that you will complete your application soon so that we might invite
you to see first-hand what opportunity you might have at Northwestern."
