~ A post about this was made in 2012, I just wanted an update ~

Northwestern University has two Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programs, where one is in Evanston and the other in Chicago.

I wanted to know if there are more specifics in the difference between both programs.
If anybody here has completed (or is currently completing) either one, if you could give your opinion or feedback on the program, that would be great!

The Feinberg program seems to be more oriented towards applying and set in a medical environment whereas the Weinberg program seems to be more research-based rather than practice.

The discussion from 2012 indicated that Feinberg had spotty funding, but their website shows that it is fully funded as of recently.

Just any comments, information, feedback or opinions on either program is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Evanston is a clinical science program. Focus is almost exclusively on research; most practicums are at one practice (clinical work is deemphasized). Only about 60% of graduates seek licensure. Really big name researchers like Mineka & Zimbarg. Much smaller applicant pool than Feinberg; (100 vs 450). Feinberg is a true scientist practitioner program (balanced research and clinical) and one of the few prgms in the country embedded in a medical center. Practicums all over city including in the medical school. Child focused students all have at least 1 practicum at Lurie children's. Now a greater research focus as students are required to submit their own grant application (NRSA, foundation etc). Perhaps less well known researchers than those at Evanston (in terms of the ones that take students-- there are many very well known faculty at Feinberg but they aren't primary mentors). Both programs are fully funded. Both programs match with mentor is key.
