So what is the latest we could interview there to be in the first round of acceptances (since one round is late this year and the only other is many months away).

C'mon Northwestern!

I'd imagine you'd have to interview kind of soon. I interviewed in Sept. and they weren't even committing to getting all of our decisions out in time, but I think they just said that in case they couldn't decide. You can check the status page, though, in November to see if they decided on you or not, but that will make for a stressful couple of days.

Do you know when they're going to send out their first round acceptances??

i interviewed last week, and they said some of the admissions committee members are on the slow side, so we may or may not have a decision this round. no firm commitment, but i am hoping that i will get my decision and it will be yes!

by the way, i JUST LOVED it there. everyone seemed so happy and nice.

Ah...*sigh*....I'm done with interviews at Columbia, Vanderbilt, Emory, and U of Chicago, still no word from Northwestern. UCLAMAN, maybe you should throw tomatoes at the admission office for me 😀

I'll be at Northwestern on Friday. I can't find any students who'll host me, so I guess I'll just hang out by the school over night, eh? 😀

Poor me. I wanna interview. 🙁

me 3 🙁 😳 😡

there is a holiday inn just a couple blocks from the school that is $99 per night... not too bad.

me 4 🙁 😳 😡 😕

I loved Northwestern when I interviewed there. The location is a great plus, and I'm hoping to get a "yes" decision from there in late November. I'd be bummed if I have to wait until February. This waiting game is agonizing, but I think for now I'll focus on academics. Yet, I'm very worried about my grades now. Any ideas on what Northwestern requires of senior grades from accepted students? Could we just get by with passing grades, or do we need to be at the level that we have been at from previous years? I'm trying my hardest right now admist commitments and interviews, and I'm hoping to ace the next midterms and finals. Okay, back to study......

im going to have to disagree with all these happy northwesterners, i mean come on 50,000 plus per year!

Don't they cap debt at 120k?

I would argue that most(not all) non-state schools will have a similar price tag(plus or minus 5k a year). I'd say the budget estimates for NU are very generous. One doesn't need to pull out the max in loans to live here.

So despite the cost of tuition...I know that pretty much the only places(out of the places I would've wanted to go to) that would have "cheap"(comparatively) tuition would be the UC's and perhaps Stanford with their generous financial aid dept.

But anywhere else I'd say that you are looking at 50k a year(maybe slightly more maybe slightly less). Is there really that much of a difference if you are paying back 200k or 210k(or even 220k)? I mean I guess one has to factor in interest. But for the 10k(20k) price difference is it really worth going to the cheaper school if you wouldn't be happy? I'd say the 10k is a drop in the bucket(just go into plastics and set up shop in beverly hills...😀 ) But I guess everyone happiness may be worth differently depending on the person. Either way...if you don't end up at your state school, then you are looking at a big loan IMO.

FINALLY.....after nearly a month...interviewing on November 4th...woohoo. I am stoked! Heard its an exciting place with great places to visit, learn medicine, and grow. But I don't have anyone to stay with 🙁 I wonder if NU provides student hosts...it'll be much cheaper and hopefully I'll get some insights into the school🙂 All of you who are waiting...i am sure it won't be too long...you're interviews are on their way. Also, be sure to check out your status on NU site...that's how I found out!

Yes,we have student hosts. I'm one of them. 😀

NU gives out one small small round of acceptances late nov/early december, but gives out the vast majority of their decisions/acceptances early spring (i.e. march). just because you interviewed early does not mean you'll hear from them in december. likewise, interviewing in november doesn't preclude you from hearing by december.

good luck 🙂

What is turnaround time like? My application was complete early September, like September 4 I think. I haven't heard anything. Should I contact them? How do they notify you for interviews - email, snail mail, or phone?

UCLAMAN,
If you're not busy next Tuesday or not hosting someone else, would you mind if I PMed you. Also, it'd be great to put a face with some of your entertaining posts...🙂
