I'm sure plenty of people have asked this question... But I have a nose hoop, really nice rose gold. Nothing offensive or punky. I just don't want to take it out because it's such a hassle since I would need to go to a piercer. I'm not afraid of people passing judgement because I've never had issues with it, even during job interviews. However, I am worried that the interviewer will think that I didn't take this interview seriously and didn't bother to take my nose ring out.
Thoughts? Better safe than sorry?

I would say better safe than sorry. I have a tattoo on my forearm, and I keep it covered for interviews. It shouldn't matter, but you don't want to give them a reason - even subconsciously they may be turned off by it.

I personally would take it out. If you can put one in that is easier to take out day of that is what I would do so it doesn't close on you. It is better to be safe and sorry, because sometimes schools policies do not allow students to have it. I know the struggle, I used to have mine, but it was always easier to have it out then once I was accepted by a job or school then I would ask about it. Safest way

Just take it out, it's too hard to know what an interviewer will think. It can't help you, it can only hurt you.

Look online for the school's PT student handbook and look up the dress code and see if there is mention of jewelery. I know one of the schools I am applying to specifically forbids any jewelery other than a single ear piercing.

Even if it doesn't say anything, you'd still be dumb to wear it to an interview.

Personally, I would take it out. I've been on 3 interview days and I didn't see anyone there with facial piercings in. Sadly, the interviewers could look down on you even though nose piercings are more common. I would say either go with a simple small post or no ring at all

The reality you have to accept is that facial jewelery is generally going to be considered unprofessional by a large majority of highly educated people over the age of 35 or 40...and this is the demographic that interviewers fall in.

Don't even think about it, take it out! This is a professional interview for grad school and all my friends in pt school right now are graded on professionalism in some classes/practicals. A nose ring is not professional, even if you don't care if they pass judgement, that could mean the difference of being accepted or not...and piece of jewelry doesn't seem worth the risk if this something you really want….

Take it out. It'll be worth a re-pierce if you get in without taking the risk.

Take it it out and keep it out. Most schools have strict dress codes on what students are allowed to wear to internships/clinicals and nose rings are one of several things that are usually not ok to have. I have classmates who have them but none wore them to interviews or to the clinic. Not only would you might not get in because of it you also might have to constantly be taking it in and out during school. Also, some employers won't allow you to wear it either.

I think that it's a legitimate question. While you shouldn't wear the nose ring, you could wear other interesting jewelry, like a beautiful necklace! You can still wear something that sets you apart from the crowd, just not facial piercings, fishnets, "hooker heels". etc 🙂
