Past situation:
Current situation (2 years later):
Enrolled currently at San Diego State and beginning to take all my pre-req science courses since i never went through becoming a bio major my freshmen year. so having never taken science courses since my freshmen year in college, i have to say i am doing MUCH better and receiving A's and B's. But there's another catch: I am feeling very...old now. By the time I finish my pre-reqs I will be 28. is this considered pretty old for starting the opto degree??

I talked to the admissions officer at NECO and told her my situation, and she told me I could do a 1-year master's program in sociology if i don't get in my first try (during my wait period). does anyone know if i do this, if my berkeley GPA will no longer count as much since the master's is my highest level of education?

thank you to those who take the time to read this and post a response. i would really appreciate your guidance. =)

You're only going to be 28...that is definitely NOT too old to apply. You should read some past posts by non-traditional applicants and their perspectives. For schools such as SCCO, they will average all of your pre-requisite courses from all of the colleges that you attend (so in your case they will also include your Berkeley's grades). Your academic transcripts never expire, however, certain schools will definitely look more favorably on your current academic accomplishments (so it is good that you're doing well on your pre-requisites now). I would just apply after you've completed your pre-requisites (necessary coursework, OAT, LOR, EC, etc) and see if you get an interview before you decide to compete a master's degree, which will require at least 2 more years to complete. If you don't get in, then re-evaluate about applying to a master's program to raise your gpa. Good luck.
