Hey! I was wondering if some people could chime in on how picky D.O schools are about finishing a masters program prior to matriculating. If everything goes well, it will take about 2 years from now to get into med school. I was talking about this idea under the person I do research for, and my PI suggested about doing a masters that could be funded. I don't think its a bad idea, my only concern is that I have heard some people say that med schools require people to finish what ever program before matriculating. So I wanted to hear if other people know of D.O schools that have this policy and to hear people's opinion if its worth the risk of not being able to finish the masters on time.

That would be a big no. DO schools care that you finish your undergrad degree and pre-reqs, but that's it. A masters program can help you get in, but it's not at all a requirement. If you get accepted and don't want to finish......drop it and enjoy the freedom.

Some people will care. Some will not. Predicting it is impossible. Personally, I wouldn't put myself in that position. If you can't finish, don't do it
