Not getting this PAT question

It looks like B to me as well. . . what does the answer key say it is?

I would have guessed it was B too, but it you look closely enough at B, at the top right u would see that the two pointed structures are very close to each other and if u look at the diagram it appears two be smack in the center. Therefore it should be E, if u eliminate the other answers.

This is from the Kaplan DAT book. I said B, but its not right. Can anyone explain how I should approach this problem? Thanks!!
A and B do not line up the corners. C definately does not work. D will not work because of the slight overhangs of the top block. So it leaves E. To check you take the top block and rotate it toward you and to the left it will fit through the wide section of E. In this orientation the bottom block will line up with the narrower width and pass right through. Hope that helps.
^ohh mannn i still can't see it even with your explanation. i even stacked two similar sized textbooks on top of each other and STILL can't see it 😛...how is the top block oriented? is it coming out of the page?
From the originating picture:
The top block becomes the one on the left (the oblique angle still comes out as a rectangle when orienting the bottom block to pass through straight)
The bottom the one on the right (that passes straight through)
The view from the right is what faces you
The left view is what enters through the key-hole first.
Answer is E, front end view but upside down. Picture the bottom as a rectangle and the piece on top, tilted on it's side behaves like the long end of a right triangle. If you extrapilate the 2 sides you'll get a side of the other triangle which correlates to the long piece of the rectangle that's on top of the smaller rectangle. Not sure if you guys understand, it's easier if there is a picture of you guys can imagine it.

If you look at the black diagonal i have drawn and rotate it so that that rectangle can pass through the the larger space on left in E the other rectangle below it is half of the diagonal (in red). So that will fit in the smaller rectangular space on the right side in E.

I was unaware of the fact that you can rotate the blocks so that it can fit in the keyhole. I was under the impression that can you rotate the view but not the block i.e. in this case, we are only rotating the top block and leaving the bottom (left) block unrotated. Correct me if I am wrong
You cannot rotate as a whole but not the individual parts. However rotating so top block will position the bottom block correctly as Jia7 has drawn lines on the image.

Yeah I thought this way too. you can rotate the view but i thought you couldnt change the position of the object itself? If that were the case, you can also rotate it so that D could be the answer as well if your rotate both rectangles directly on top of eachother. Could someone clarify?

We are not rotating each block separately. The view has been rotated as a whole so that you are looking at the blocks from the side (end) view and that makes them fit E.
