I took my DAT last week and got 16 AA, and 14 PAT. My Cum GPA is 3.4 and Scie GPA is 3.5. With current DAT score, I don't think any school will call me for an interview. I'm just TOO SAD!!! I know I can do much better than what I got last time if I take it again. But, the problem is I can't take the test for another 3 months (till November), and I don't know if that will be too late to take the test. I am Illinois resident and applying to UIC, SIU, BU, TUFTS, MARQUETTE, TEMPLE, and IU. I want to take the test again in November, but I don't know if schools will be done processing our applications or not by that time. Please, help me out friends. I will appreciate any input from you guys.

Hi, thakdha. While you do have a solid gpa, those scores are a bit low. Please don't get discouraged. You have plenty of time to study and retake the DAT in November. For what it is worth, I have known people that have taken it as late as February and still got into dental school. Yes, schools will still be processing applications by that point - keep in mind that most operate on a rolling admissions process. That means that they will send out an intial batch of acceptance letters and chances are only half will accept them. Thus, the schools need to keep reviewing applications and interviewing to fill those spots. It is not unheard of for someone to be called the weekend before school starts and be offered a spot at a school. In short, you are not lost nor hopeless. I sympathize with you not wanting to undergo another intense DAT review, but if you keep you nose to the grindstone and have faith in yourself, you can retake the DAT in November and stand a very good chance of improving your score. Best of luck!

thanks 🙂 . I will definitely take it again in November, and do better.

hey, also keep in mind when you retake the test and do really well you jump ahead of a lot of people since your GPA and scores are good. This is what my buddies told me when they applied in November, and they're in dental school now!

Dude, youve got lots of time. No sweat. Just prepare a little better and you will be good to go.
