I am a 3rd year Biology student. I should (will) graduate spring 2008. I want to apply for veterinary school for fall 2008. However Ive been reading that you need to apply at least a year in advance, which means before fall 2007. However I will not have all the pre-reqs out of the way in time. They will be all finished though before I graduate in spring 2008.
Now my question is, do veterinary schools take this into consideration or am I going to have to wait and apply for the 2009 year, which leaves me with a year to twiddle my thumbs?
Also for the GRE, I read the same thing, Need to take it at least a year in advance. For the subject test, what If I do not have enough biology classes out of the way to pass it sufficently?
/confused.

Most schools will allow you to have 1 course to still be completed by winter quarter/spring semester. If you still have pre-req classes you are finishing in fall you will need to send those grades ASAP once you have completed them. If you want to apply for next year's cycle (class of 2012) I really don't see how it wouldn't be possible for you to complete all of the pre-reqs by then. You have next semester/quarter, summer, and then fall again + your one outstanding class.

I'm pretty sure the deadline for the Decemeber GRE biology is not passed yet. I know OK wants it but am unsure who else. If you're not applying to school that wants it, then don't worry about it. If you are, then just register for it. If you're a 3rd year bio student, and you've been awake the last 3 years, you should be fine.

The regular GRE is computerized and you virtually can take it any day betwen now and Sept 30th 2007. Some places want you to have taken the GRE *within the last year* ...Not "a year before" applying....I think you read that one wrong or something.

Oklahoma and Georgia are the two schools that require the GRE Bio.

UF doesnt require it? just the normal GRE (forgive incorrect terminology)? If thats the case Im not worried anymore. I can prepare for that easily.

UF does not require the Biology GRE, just the General. 🙂

The biology GRE was not hard at all... I was not a bio major and I scored way higher than my class average! So even for people who "have to" take it because they are applying to OK or GA, it's not that bad!!

Does anyone know if they look down upon having too many reqs outstanding when you apply. Meaning - if you apply in 2007 for matriculationm 2008 but need both fall and spring semester to finish the reqs up. Not that it matters at this point - but just wondering if anyone has heard anything.
i.e.I will be applying with only one semester of ochem under my belt and they normally like to look at ochem as a basis??

Thanks!!

What I have heard is that they want to see your grades in most of your prereqs, so one or two is ok, but much more than that often gets the "not enough upper division science" comment.

Does anyone know if Purdue requires a GRE bio
