I still have like 17 schools with no ii or R or w yet, is this normal and when do i assume theyre Rs? When does the probabulity that theyre IIs become insiginificantly small if ever? For reference i have had only one Interview/II so far(in august), and i applied to 28 schools

It's normal.
For MD schools, March begins to look like odds are small.

You've had 1 II, so that's generally a good sign.

In general I wouldn't worry about it until after Mardi Gras (when, according to LizzyM, everyone should try to have at least 1 A in hand).

If you want some reassurance, you can look at cycletrack.org . Most schools do not reject anyone until about Feb, March, April. Many continue sending II through January as well. Remember that cycletrack is a very biased sample, as many neurotic high stat applicants are the ones posting so even if there are only a few spread into the new year, that may correlate to a lot more in reality. You can look at each individual school's previous year timeline and get a vibe for things... It is very common to be ghosted for a good while, also a lot of schools seem to triage by MCAT as well, trying to swipe those people up earlier than later, as they worry they may start declining invites if they get too many. Many schools return back to those who they may have skipped over the first time and give them an invite later, so don't freak out if you see your date passed over here on SDN or admit.org 🙂 Unfortunately it is just a waiting game, but you got this! Try to forget about it as much as you can (though that is impossible).

It drives me crazy that many schools NEVER respond to an application. There isn’t any reason that this happens, but it happens every cycle. So op you might never hear from some of the schools you applied to. Responding is so easy .

And I really don’t think/believe that @LizzyM thinks everyone should try to have an acceptance in hand by Mardi Gras. She knows as well as many of us know, that each cycle about 60 percent of all applicants each cycle are rejected. And that of the 40percent accepted, about half are accepted to one school. I think she means, if you don’t have an acceptance in hand things aren’t looking good.

And as @Goro always says”,”until you have that A in hand or in your in box, consider yourself rejected.”

Good luck as your cycle moves forward.

EXACTLY! If you don't have even one interview going into Thanksgiving weekend, you should worry.
If you don't have at least one offer by Mardi Gras, you should worry.

Worry should lead to doubling down on preparing for the next cycle.

And you shouldn't be applying unless you are trying to have an acceptance in hand by Mardi Gras.

As a lot of people are saying, you still have at least a few more months of waiting to hear back for an II. So I wouldn't lose hope yet. That being said, keep up your activities until you have an A just in case you have to reapply. Mid Spring (late Feb and march) is when I received most of my pre-II Rs.
