Hey guys,

I am finding it difficult to retain information. I am very well at chemistry and decent at ochem. But biology is hard for me to retain. Even with ochem and some of chem I am struggling. I am taking the DATs on Aug. 22nd, so I will have 7 weeks. I don't know if it's just me panicking and being stressed or not.

Any tips to help me retain what I am studying? And any other studying advice please!

I am writing out notes for all of them. But I still don't remember. I have yet to look back at them, but I will do that soon. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah it happens to me too with biology 🙁 bc of the broad depth of info.

Make notes. If you are taking notes, you might be falling into the trap of copying things verbatim; this is quite drone-like and does not activate your brain.

Watching videos helped me. At night, after i'm doing studying, I'll watch something from the BBC that is biology related. It's helped me for the evolution and species portions for the bio. It takes time though. It's a lot of information! Don't be stressed. I have a masters in biomedical science and I did research and I find the bio material to be the toughest to get above a 23

Have you used Chad's videos? They're definitely worth the money and Chad makes the information interesting and easier to memorize. And don't use the notes for Chad's and make your own. That way, you actually take down notes and not just skimming over the ones provided. If you've already used Chad's, keep practicing problems as much as you can. Destroyer and Bootcamp were probably the most helpful in biology for me! :] I needed constant repetition so did as many practice problems as I could.

For biology, don't sweat it. It's all around you. Study something, then apply it to your everyday life. When I ate, I thought about digestive system hormones and the route of food, etc. When I went outside on a hot day, I thought about photosynthesis (C3,C4,CAM). Just relate your daily experiences with something you learned and it will stick to you!

Thank you all for the advice!

I do watch videos! I have Chad's and take my own notes. I didn't even know he put up outlines until a few days ago lol. But yeah biology is a lot to retain and I feel like I was just panicking. Do you guys think 7 weeks is still enough to get through all the material for the DATs?

Watch videos and draw diagrams along with the videos. Make flashcards and go through them everyday.
