Is anyone else not going to submit secondaries to some schools they added on the primary?

Do you recommend for someone unsure of a particular school to continue with the application to that school and submit the secondary & pay the fee or not complete it?

I didn't submit one secondary. Why spend more money if you don't want to go to the school?

I did that for a few schools, namely those that I applied to when I was more confident and then later realized were a bit out of my league.

Just remember that you will be considered a reapplicant at these schools regardless of whether you submit a secondary or not

Would this be less negatively looked at though? I'm guessing schools can see that the primary was submitted but not the secondary...it's better than being a reapp at a school you interviewed at right?

If you are sure you would not attend the school, then do not submit a secondary

If you are unsure then, you should strongly consider sending in the secondary. However, if you do get an interview and are still unsure, you should withdraw ASAP. We always get someone who gets accepted to a school that they would not attend and wants to turn do the acceptance and try again the next cycle.

I understand that if an applicant indicates a school on their primary, they will be considered a reapp despite sending or not sending the secondary. But what if an applicant sends in a secondary without having their primary verified or before adding that school to their primary? Will they still be considered a reapp if they later decide not to pursue that school?

Also, is it more of a red flag to attend an II to a school and be a reapp than it is to be a reapp because we didn't send in a secondary? Or are both equally disadvantageous?

The school may keep your secondary on file and then would consider you a reapplicant even if not one via AMCAS standard

The disadvantage here is the inability to make a decision. The only school that knows you are a reapp is the specific school you applied to previously. No other school will no if you ever applied previously to any other school. So if you get attend an interview at a school and decide after the interview that you would not attend the school so you withdraw the application after the interview, and then reapply, there is a high risk of out right rejection.

I see, but I was wondering about the other scenario…if I get an II at a school and am rejected by that school, will it be a red flag to be a reapp at that same school the following cycle? Will my chances of getting a second II in another cycle be close to zero or greatly diminished? Or could it possibly be better since they know who I am already?
