With all these interview invites adding up on the Offical Countdown, I've noticed very few Interview Feedbacks being posted. This is quite perplexing, leaving only two explanations...

(1) Could it be that so many remarkably qualified pre-dents are actually skipping out on their interviews? (Sounds crazy, I know)

(2) Or, is it simply that Interview Feedback is just slipping everyone's minds?

I'm nearly certain that unless under extremely dire circumstances tenacious pre-dents, such as you all, couldn't possibly skip an interview. Therefore, I'm will assume the latter explanation is true and take this opportunity to remind those interviewed to Please, Please: POST FEEDBACK!!!!!

Thank you. 😛

Yes, Please post interview feedbacks Hope that helps

Pssh. I have posted for Iowa and Marquette the day after those respective interviews. I have nothing good to say about Colorado, so I doubt I will post.

Colorado sucks. They just attack, attack, and attack at the interview. 🙂

Oh, and I also didn't post ASDOH because nobody would be able to see it.

Even if you were attacked post negative feedback. Every little bit helps... 😉

...Anyway, what happened, we'd all like to know 😀 Did they have you in the intimidation-to-the-max room on the second floor along the catwalk??

Here.

Holy smokes, sounds like an attempt to see if you fold. Structured to be a stress interview indeed.

Exactly. I don't really know what this type of interview proves. If a patient comes in and tries to grill me with personality questions, will I be able to handle the pressure?

Man, I'm sorry. That's terrible. I've heard they do that sometimes - hopefully, you were atleast able to keep cool during it. I didn't mention this in my feedback but, at my interview only 2 of my 4 interviewers showed up on time, the third was 10 minutes late, and the fourth never showed. Which to me meant that they didn't care to make a good impression... but, ah well. Thanks for posting your feedback at least.

Oh yeah, I was fine during the interview. I didn't get angry until I flew home and thought about what had gone down. So this was your Colorado interview where there were late/missing interviewers? Yeah, I don't like this school one bit.

Yeah, not only that but one of my interviewers avoided eye-contact for the first 10 minutes ... kinda wierd talking to a bald spot.

During my Iowa interview, someone told me they are on the verge of losing ADA accredation and they have almost no full time faculty.....sounds like a mess. On the secondary, I had to put that I've been convicted of alcohol related misdemeanors. Am I just going to get grilled about this/is it even worth going to the interview?

Were you invited? If you're out-of-state, they will probably bring it up. I'd still go because you never know, they might show up to your interview on time and not ask about your mom 🙂

Just look them in the eye....get a serious look on your face and say my mom's dead you dick it says it right in my file. She's really alive and well, but it would be kind of funny

Did you get that, too? I thought it was a random question, but I guess it was to see if you made any weird faces subconsciously.

No they didn't ask me that, I pulled it off your feedback... it struck a "that's a freaked out question" chord

As far as losing accredation, I don't know about that. I think they're still ranked 10th in the nation... but isn't it unusual that schools dog on each other??

one of the guys interviewing with me told me that. So, it wasn't a terribly reliable source, just another not so good thing I've heard about them. But how can it be ranked 10th in the nation....I didnt think there were dental school rankings?

By 10th I mean ranked by National Boards Part I scores. These rankings do exist but they are all very abstract. I mean nobody will admit they ranked last. This is what Dr. Potter, Head of Admissions, said during the overview. Well, actually he said, "In the Top 10." But, I think, it's just 10th.

I'd like to see the actual report that has these numbers, because Iowa told me they were number one on the boards (Dr. Chalkley said it). I would like to be able to verify these kinds of declarations on my own.

Sounds exactly like my interview at AZ. They were just pissed about something, not asking me direct questions (like it was my fault that they had so many apps to filter through), treating me like scum, NO lunch! WTF-ever.

I came home and withdrew my app immediately. I will get in somewhere for sure, but I know AZ isn't the place for me. It is home to others I realize, I am sensitive to that, but I was unimpressed.

Ic....it seems like there are two types of schools. Those who say they are in the top X in board scores, and those that say board scores only tell you how well you do on the test and not how well we train dentists. Kinda funny

See and I heard UCSF was number one... it would be nice if that information was published so applicants could see for themselves. Because Board Scores speak volumes about the quality of the academic curriculum, which would be some worthwhile information for us pre-dents.

😕 Dean at UNLV said that San Antonio was number one, and wanted to beat them badly.

Dean of Nebraska said they were #2 and wanted to beat Harvard

And heard Nebraska was #4 for NDBE II and #5 from NDBE I... hmm, well, I guess you can't judge a dental school by its board scores 🙂 Interview experience and SDN comments are about all we have to draw from. Thus, I will reiterate - PLEASE POST FEEDBACK

I'm guessing we could pretty much say anything at this point. University of X is #1? But Y told me they were at the top! So who's #0???

Actually as a dental student, I would disagree with this statement. Board scores mostly speak to the knowledge and drive of the students at that program, not necessarily the quality of the teaching at the institution. Anyone who can get a 99 on the boards from one program would have done well from any school.

Fair enough. I'd rather be a competent clinician than a good test-taker, anyway. 🙂

But, dental students don't live in a vacuum. Board Scores, if anything, are a testament to the school's ability to prepare a student by presenting valid and accurate information. I think a 99 on the boards is indicative of a competant student and institution.

Board scores, huh? As long as you're in SDN your scores will be ridiculously high. No need to find out which schools have the highest scores when you have SDN

I posted my unlv one right away.

Who would have ever thought that Deans were the least trustworhty source. It is strange, now that I think about it they do have a used car salesman feel to them. This is the one for you, blah blah were number one blahblahblah this one is the cheapest blah blah blah

They are probably all accurate figures, they just aren't telling you they are from 1977.

I look at it this way - the school should be showing you why they want you as a student as much as you should show the school why you want it as your school. They already know you want to be a dentist. They don't know why you want to come to their school and if you have an understanding of what makes their school unique. AADSAS and secondaries add up to the interview. The interview should be a dialogue. If the best statistics the school has is from 30 years ago it makes you wonder.

It sounds like Colorado is a stinker. I don't understand why a school would give you a stress test like that - why don't they try waterboarding?

I posted feedback for my interviews. Nothing too surprising when you look at to rest of the feedback on the same place.

I'm bumping this to remind you all who haven't to please post feedback! (You know you've been reading the old feedback - and that's just what it is, OLD. This is a new cycle so post early and post often!!!)

Actually, let's start a brownie points list. After you have posted feedback, write your name on the following list and I'll send you a cookie.

I am cool and have posted feedback: IcySpice06, reapply2007, SundevilDMD, in her drawer,

I am not cool, and don't believe in posting feedback (list does not merit cookie):

the reason I havent posted feedback was because i felt that everything that needs to be said has already been said. Schools like sticking with the same questions year in and year out, I seriously think the entire Iowa interview question bank is in the feedback, so why repeat their postings?
