Even though I have a really strong recent upward trend (3.8 for the last 4 quarters) my GPA is pretty mediocre (3.3ish). With not so impressive GPA, I feel a little bit uneasy asking professors for LORs though I did really well in their classes. Maybe it's just my insecurity but why would they waste their time writing a letter for someone who doesn't have the stats to apply to medical schools. How should I go about asking them for letters? Anyone's been in this situation before?
I have the same problem with my research PI. I have been working in her lab for over a year and half and I am graduating in 3 months and wanting to ask her for a LOR. We do have a very close relationship and I feel like she would write me a great letter. However, from talking to her, it seems to me that she somehow thinks I am an outstanding student who has something like 3.8 (partly because my recently strong academic performance and she always asks me how I did on my exams). Now if I gave her my transcripts and CV, I don't know what she would think and how would that affect the strength of her letter.
Any advice, comment is greatly appreciated!
P/S: I also need these letters to apply to SMP programs
