@radian313 posed a question in another thread about the accuracy of ECs and touched on the fact that his are several years old.

I didn't want to hijack his/her thread, so I thought I'd post a similar question since I'm in the same boat.

When I apply next year, my ECs will be like 5-8 years old from when I was an undergrad/grad student.

The only thing I do now is shadow. I have a ton of good ECs (school, community, clinical, etc.), but they are all from back in the day. Will that be a problem?

What else have you been doing besides shadowing in the past couple of years?

Thanks for making a separate thread.

I think if they are of substance then go ahead and wrote it.

Ive done some EMT work w the fire dept, I was president of various clubs, so stuff like that.

I would post it, but if it was something less than a week. I would think about it.

I finished my grad degree in 2010. Since then, retaking undergraduate courses (pretty much retook my entire Bachelors), teaching/working, raising kid.

Like if its something super old and if its like you went to a soup kitchen for a weekend, I wouldnt bother with it.

Oh okay, gotcha.
That's actually something my daughter and I still do (soup kitchen), especially on the holidays. We only do it a few times a year, but for the past probably 10 years.
Didn't even think about that one.

Well thats a very important one. Esp for DO schools because they dont want to see all "save the world" ECs. Moreso, you being involved in the community and the fact that you doing it with your daughter shows you bing a good role model.

Yeah I don't care about saving the world...just want to deliver some babies. Haha.
