So I am having a very difficult time conveying the fact that I'm interested in just the MD without also blowing my load as far as my research interests are concerned. In fact I almost made half my AMCAS essay my research interests.
Long story short on me. I'm looking to do MD/PhD, probably in anthropology. I am interested in psychiatry. Thus, I am interested in social analyses related to psychiatry.
I don't want to get caught up in that ivory tower that I sometimes perceive to be social science academica; I want to be a part of the application of progressive ideas. Thus, I am pursuing the MD with the focus of being a doctor with complementary training and complementary research career.
I have not taken the GRE, and I don't have the time to right now, so I just want to do an internal transfer when I get there or pursue the PhD after the MD.
But I honestly feel that the "PhD" part of me is so enormous that I find a difficult time writing the essay without making large reference to it.
Any thoughts?
