I'm wondering if an update letter would be necessary in this situation or not. I recently interviewed at a school, and during the interview I mentioned a few activities I have engaged in since I sent in my primary/secondary application. So in this sense, I did technically update the interviewer on my activities. However, the interviewer did not take many notes down so I'm not sure how much of the update I gave them would make it to the adcom. So in general, if you let an interviewer know about some new activities you did since you sent in your application, can you assume that they will update the committee about it? Or would it be safe to send them an update letter reiterating what I mentioned in my interview. Thanks for any advice!

Absolutely send an update letter. No downside whatsoever to sending a letter.
