I am a little unsure of where I stand in regards to appropriate schools to apply to. I scored a 34 on the MCAT (BIO 13, Verbal 11, PHYS 10), am premed at Notre Dame, currently spending my entire summer working at a well known camp for kids w/ diabetes, and am a resident of Nevada. However, my GPA is only a 3.37. I had a poor freshman year but my grades have showed steady improvement and a positive slope for sure. Do I have a chance at the following schools or am I aiming too high? Virginia, Northwestern, Georgetown, Tulane, Vanderbilt, NYU, Mount Sinai, Weill, Stanford, Michigan, Chicago, PITT, Emory, Case Western... I appreciate any comments, specific or general. Thanks...

It's fine for you to apply to all of those schools, but you should add some that are not ranked in the top 50, just in case....otherwise you could find yourself reapplying.

Welcome to SDN! 🙂 I agree with Foxy, you do have a chance at those schools, but because the process is so unpredictable, add some unranked schools where you think you'd be happy. 14 schools seems a little on the low side to me, even without considering the rankings issue. I had a lower MCAT than you but a higher GPA, with great EC's, LOR's, etc. and was rejected pre-interview at Georgetown, Case Western, Virginia, and Michigan (after spending untold hours on the secondaries) and waitlisted at Mt. Sinai and Tulane. All-told, I had 11 pre-interview rejections and 2 post-interview, mostly from schools where I thought I was very competitive. My acceptances were from lower or unranked schools, except one, which was from a top 10. Go figure. It's a very dicey process, and I wish you the best of luck!! 🙂
