Does anyone subscribe to this service at his or her school? Do you like it? Is it a waste of money since you end up taking your own notes anyway? Do the people taking notes do a good job? Thanks for any info.

I subscribe and I think its worth it. I don't go to lecture and I spend that gained time studying which means I have more free time too. I'd try going to lecture to see if you're really getting something out of it . . . when you go over the same topic three days later how much of it stuck from lecture? For me I barely remembered anything despite taking avid notes and sitting up close etc . . . I guess at this volume audio learning just isn't efficient for me . . . it does really work for some people though.

I also found that when I tried to take my own notes for the purpose of using them to study from (not just to keep me attentive) I don't really have the time to stop and think about anything and let it sink in. The noteservice at my school has a MP3 recording (which no one else is allowed access to per our proffessors, you do have access at some schools) so they can fill in all the holes and give you really complete notes.

Each note taker spends about 6 hours putting together a single noteset and most are very good, though there is always a few that are difficult to comprehend because the notetaker didn't understand the material, but that's rare. We have a reviewer system too which helps the quality alot.

Mine sucked. Never used it. Make sure you can opt out if you don't use the service.

Lots of people really liked it, though, so this is a personal decision.

I used it, and it was great. I went to pretty much every class first semester, but it was not really efficient for me. During second semester, I pretty much just used the notes, the coops, and review books.

Our notes service cost $200 per semester, so they are not cheap (and I guess not that expensive), but they are useful.
