Notes from ASTRO Career Seminar - Median Salary

Would anyone be able to PM me if they had notes from this past year on avg salaries from the Terry Wall survey? I took down some numbers for private but missed the academic numbers. Thanks.

Average starting salary (from the ARRO survey):

Academic- $265k (range $175-400k)

Private practice - $310k (range $215 - 400k)
(he noted the sample size was small and noted a salary of $290k would fit better with the trend of salary increases over prior years)

If you went to ASTRO or purchased web access, the whole talk is in the online webcast of the meeting.

Per Dr. Wall the starting salary has been going up by $25K per year for the last few surveys. Kind of surprising. I wonder what's happening to mid-career salaries?

The MGMA 2010 salary #s are on another thread somewhere, but I think the numbers they quote seem kind of high for all specialties (median $518k, mean $543k for rad onc).

If anybody attended the Annual Meeting in Boston this year and knows what the updated starting salary numbers are for 2012, could you please PM them to me?

I'd like to update the FAQ.

I finally got the numbers from my buddy.

First year starting salary for 2012
Avg = $285k
Median = $301k
Range = $180k - $450k

That was a typo, mean should have read median. I changed it.
